My first exposure to the SCA was in 1981 at Norwescon 4 at the Hyatt hotel near the Sea-Tac Airport. It was a small demo and I saw Torgul and Dak as well as Grendal fight for the first time. I was still very into gaming at 14 so not until the next Norwescon did I get directions to Camlin Fair where I met Edward the Stuffy. He gave me directions to the Crown Tournament that was happening in Canada on Labor day weekend. I called an engineering friend of mine who was at the UW at about midnight and asked him if he wanted to go to a medieval event and he said yes. This was September of 83'(AS18) and was the first Crown tourney Thorin had won, it was Angharads second. Manfred and Morwyn were the current King and Queen. At the 90'(AS 25)July Coronation, I was offered Knighthood by Thorin and Angharad but took a vigil and was knighted the next day by King Gunnar and Queen Gabriel. That September Crown as the newest Knight I won the Crown Tourney and my Queen was Octavia. During that reign, I won the Kings and Royalty tournament at Estrella War that was broadcast on ESPN's amazing games. I have ruled three times additionally since then. In AS 33, AS 34, and our current reign as I am the sitting royalty of An Tir as of this writing. I was a sergeant of Three Mountains serving Steingrim and the Janeltis. I have Silver- Rosed two times, once to Duke Rorik and once to Duke Darius. For three consecutive years previous to this one, I took third place in the Best of the Best Tournament at held at the Great Pennsic War.
